Reporting directly to our General Counsel, the Legal Counsel is primarily responsible for drafting and negotiating contracts and supporting the legal team in other legal and compliance-related matters, including franchise agreements, litigation, corporate law and intellectual property matters. This role calls for a legal professional who can wear multiple hats and someone who loves navigating a never-ending variety of challenges.

 

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

  • Draft, review and negotiate all types of commercial contracts (including confidentiality, vendor agreements, framework and services agreements both in Italian and English language).
  • Provide strategic legal advice and great service to your internal business clients based in Italy and in other European countries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal risks and find practical solutions to complex commercial issues.
  • Support in compliance matters regarding franchise-specific laws and rules and in other areas related to our business.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedure, and training programs to ensure consistency and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Support the management of disputes and litigation, working closely with external counsel as needed in Italy and in other European countries.
  • Coordinate with and manage outside counsel as needed, mainly in jurisdiction outside Italy or when specialized legal advice is required.
  • Support corporate governance matters, including M&A projects.
  • Provide legal support in the maintenance of intellectual property portfolios, including but not limited to trademarks and domains.
  • Help design and provide solutions to enhance legal processes.
  • Lead and take charge of special legal projects from start to finish.
  • Perform other key legal and compliance-related duties as may be required from time to time.

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Master’s degree in law with top grades.
  • 5-8 years of experience is required, both in a law firm and in-house legal department
  • Extensive experience and proven working knowledge of contracts.
  • Excellent mastery of written and spoken English and Italian (including ability to draft legal documents in both languages)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple on-going priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills coupled with the ability to provide legal and compliance advice in the context of business initiatives and goals.
  • An unwavering attention to detail, paired with excellent partnership management and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive can-do attitude; flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Curiosity and an interest in building meaningful relationships with team members and business partners across departments and at all levels.
  • Analytical skills allowing to grasp complex legal and business matters.
